#FemaleForward — More courageous women

Once the final goal of the women’s movement has been reached, there will no longer be a strong sex, but only strong personalities,” said Helene Lange (1848–1930), German politician (DDP), educator, and feminist. Women are still under-represented in many areas in Germany: in politics, in business. According to Statista, the proportion of women among all business founders was 40 per cent in 2018. The proportion of women in leadership positions in Germany is 29 per cent. Women and men must have the same opportunities in all areas. Women must become better at believing in themselves. That requires role models: women who can show that a successful career is not a question of gender, but of the will to succeed. The central platform for this campaign was Instagram. In addition, there were numerous events and contributions on female superheros in history.

FEMALE SUPERHERO IN HISTORY Helene Lange: an unflinching fighter for women’s education Who was she? Helene Lange (1848–1930) was a German feminist, educator, and politician. Why is she a female superhero? She campaigned to improve education for girls and schoolmistresses in Prussia. She became known across Germany as the author of the 1887 “Gelbe Broschüre” [“Yellow Brochure”], which accompanied a petition to the Prussian ministry of education and the Prussian chamber of deputies and was strongly critical of the state of girls’ education. What does her activism mean for us today? The fact that women – just like men – can now study anything and choose any profession or trade is, to a great extent, due to Helene Lange.
